Artist's Description

Thunder storm and rain over Apalachicola Bay is always a pretty sight while traveling along the Big Bend Scenic Byway on US 98 in Franklin County Florida.

Franklin County is along the Gulf of Mexico in the panhandle of Florida.

The county includes several large, preserved areas and rivers and has been home to commercial timber and fishing industry. The Big Bend Scenic Byway is220 miles in length and is a mostly two-lane road through pine forest, small towns and coastal villages, and miles of unspoiled seashore. It passes through several counties, including Franklin. The key points of the byway include the city of Alapachicola, the Apalachicola National Forest, St Marks Lighthouse, Tates Hell State Forest, and St George Island.
