Description
I made this black and white photograph of two godwits while on a wildlife cruise in the Elkhorn Slough of California. The godwits are a group of large, long-billed, long-legged and strongly migratory waders. Their long bills allow them to probe deeply in the sand for aquatic worms and mollusks. In their winter range, they flock together where food is plentiful, like here in the Elkhorn Slough of California. They frequent tidal shorelines, breeding in northern climates in summer and migrating south in winter.
This photograph was featured in the FAA group Just Perfect.
